TW team provides an expert service for microscopic analysis of freshwater, wastewater, and non-water samples including residues, fibrous materials, biofilms, and slimes. Identification and enumeration of algae and cyanobacterial taxa are based on morphology, to genus level using Nikon ECLIPSE 50i phase-contrast microscope and Olympus SZ61 compact stereo microscope. The enumeration of phytoplankton cells is estimated by cell abundance per unit volume. Cyanobacteria bio-volume per unit volume is also reported and compared with available Water Quality Guidelines to understand any risk of potentially toxic algal blooms in water bodies.
